Culture Methodology

The methodology helps i-Kno to keep a clear focus on the end result of the solution that needs to be supplied to our clients. It clearly defines the desired result and has checks and balances to ensure that this result is met.

i-Kno is home to the CultureTM methodology. Implementing knowledge solutions in a modern world where everybody is bombarded by constant change is a challenge in itself. To ease the implementation of knowledge solutions, i-Kno has developed a methodology called CultureTM. We believe that the key to the success of the solution lies within the culture of the people. If managed properly with the least amount of change and by accepting current work methods and tools, new solutions can be implemented successfully.

Aim


The methodology aims to provide the right information within the right context to the right person at the right time for the right business purpose.

Surrounding the 5R's are the phases that are focussed on during the process, to achieve the desired results.

Clear focus on the desired results


During this phase the requirements are defined and the desired results are documented. The aim of the phase is to get a clear focus on the desired results in order for the project to succeed.

Understand the business domain


This phase is the most important for i-Kno, as this phase determines to a great extend the ongoing success of the project. During this phase a clear understanding of the domain or business is obtained. Projects have failed too many times because the consulting firm or project team did not understand the business. At i-Kno we focus on the business of our clients, as their long term success is also our success.

Leverage what is available


In this phase we determine what processes and/or tools are already being utilised within the organisation. We don't believe that replacing and/or changing the processes of our clients would necessarily benefit them. Rather than replacing, we try and work together with other solutions. We believe in re-use rather than re-develop.

Tool Selection


After carefully evaluating the current processes and/or tools, a proposal is made to select the correct tool for the solution. The tools might not be new technology or even new processes but rather a combination of new and old processes as well as a combination of new and old technology. In a lot of cases NO new processes or technology needs to be applied, but more a re-focus of current processes and technology.

Utilise the solution


After implementation of the desired solution a study is made to determine how the solution is being utilised. During this phase employees are interviewed, statistics gathered and the utilisation of the solution is documented.

Recognise the effort


The most important factor in the success of new processes and technology is recognising all the stakeholders involved for their contributions and ongoing support as well as use of the solution.

Evaluate the results


Last but not least is the "Evaluate" phase. During this phase an evaluation is made of the solution. The results are documented and measured against the original requirement defined within "Clear focus". The report is presented to the stakeholders to determine the success of the project.
